The following 6 principles are the foundation of the Pilates method.
Strive to integrate each into your workout.
Concentration:
A focused mind will get results
Center:
Always work from your core.
Control:
Control originates from the core, providing support and stabilization, and extends to the mind, creating discipline.
Fluidity:
When you perform Pilates you're not doing separate exercises, but one long continuous activity, like a dance.
Precision:
This refers to the appropriate placement of each body part, the alignment of each part to one another and the path of each motion.
Breath:
In Pilates, as in all forms of physical activity, proper breathing helps the body exert itself and recover from that exertion. Generally speaking, you should inhale as you begin a movement and exhale you execute it.
